Voluntary Initiatives

Official Participation

To help us manage our impacts and maximize the benefits to communities, we use a combination of internal and external frameworks. To this end, IAMGOLD has joined a number of international standards and working groups. These initiatives help ensure that we adhere to high standards from an economic, social and governance perspective.

Mining Association of Canada (MAC) Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM)

Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI)

IAMGOLD is an official supporting company for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). We applaud the efforts of the EITI to establish a global standard for transparency of revenues related to nature resource extraction.

Currently, there are three countries that IAMGOLD operates within which have been deemed EITI Compliant: Burkina Faso, Peru and Mali. Within each of these countries, we are required to disclose all payments made to governments. These payments are then independently verified and reconciled against amounts received by the government, ensuring greater transparency over how revenues are managed.

Moving forward, we believe such transparency is imperative when operating on a global basis. We will continue to support and promote the Principles and Criteria of the EITI, as well as any efforts of our other operating countries to become EITI Compliant.
